Mentor Spotlight

South Wales Mentees

Jo – Junior Reporting Analyst

“I have been looking to get into a formal data analyst role for some time and I was inspired to want to be part of the Data Gals mentorship programme from the 1st Data Inclusivity event I attended. I felt that the mentorship programme would be an excellent way of gaining additional  support to develop my data skills and reporting building knowledge as well as insights into how to develop in my role.  It is fantastic to have a female mentor to give me that guidance, as well as a female manager to inspire.”

Emily – Senior Data Scientist

“I joined the programme as I’m moving up the career ladder so I wanted some advice/experience from somebody who has ‘been there done that’. I’ve recently moved into a senior position which will result in my becoming a people leader in the future. This is a new world for me and getting advice on this was crucial for me.”

Kirsty – Digital Strategy Manager

“As someone who is progressing in a digital role and carving out my own career path, it was important for me to find a like-minded community that could help me develop my skills and build confidence. I’m looking forward to learning from those that have broken down the unfortunate gender barriers that still exist today to thrive in their respective fields. The whole ethos and mission of The Data Gals is inspiring.”

Tino – Data Consultant

“When in Uni I found stepping into unfamiliar settings easier and more exciting when I encountered someone who had similar experiences or experiences that I found aligned with my career goals. Being in The Data Gals community where I can meet with like minded individuals where we influence and encourage each other is powerful”

Chloe – MI & Reporting Analyst

I’m really excited to join the mentorship scheme to get some advice on how to progress my career. There are so many different pathways through the data industry so getting to talk to someone who has been in industry longer than me, and has already navigated more of their own pathway, will be incredibly useful. I’m also looking forward to meeting the wider community of mentors and mentees, to build a network of people in data and learn from what everyone is doing within the industry.
